Hand-made brooches and pins

The brooches are individually hand made from re-cycled light mild steel with detailing such as acid etching or copper or brass rivets for eyes.
After the design is decided upon, a male and female former is hand carved so that the basic shape can be created by subjecting the metal to the equivalent of two tons under a Victorian fly press.
No two pieces are exactly the same however as the outer shape is then hand cut and filed and either beaten or etched , before a coat of clear laquer completes the ornament.
Although they are made of steel which makes them very difficult to cut by hand, as they have effectively been embossed before being hand decorated they are very light and have been worn on hats and scarves as well as jackets.
